In my spare time, that is between working on my soon to be WordPress theme release and Client Project, I have been reading The Elements of User Experience. Great book, definitely a recommended read. Anyhow, while I was waiting for an excrutiatingly slow loading situation to take place today, I passed a few minutes by cracking open the book. Upon doing so I stumbled upon this little gem which I think is extremely important to make note of so I figure I would share.
Well , everbody does have a different sense of aesthetics, but that doesn’t mean design decisions have to be based on what looks “cool” to everyone involved.
Instead of evaluating visual design ideas solely in terms of what seems aesthetically pleasing, you should focus your attention on how well they work.
It goes on to talk about how the design should reinforce and support the objectives and architecture of the site, but I won’t spoil the read for you. Said so simply but the idea there is so important and must be taken into consideration when you are in the business of designing website, user interfaces, applications etc. Just thought I would share.
Next up – the theme release!
