I have been working non-stop on getting this site redesigned, bottom line is I wanted to try a few new things as well as create a nicer platform for my revived interest in writing (blogging). The new design is drastically different, but you will see that my personally preference for the “grungy” look could not die and has once again found its’ place on this new canvas. I am happy with the design, I feel that it illustrates improvement in both my overall design skills as well as my grasp of web design. I believe this lays the groundwork for a more latteral design change in the future and puts a stop to the drastic undertakings of the present.
While I prepare for this move I direct you to flickr to have a look, your comments aare much appreciate.
Looks like it will be a winner. I can see that you have some very beneficial layout and design experience in off-web areas. You have a great eye for proportion and fully recognize the importance of free-space. Too many web designers these days “over-Java and over-Ajax” and end up driving viewers away with way too much clutter and multi-source loading.
Simplicity with a touch of post-modern grunge makes for a very pleasant read ! (which is what most people go to blogging sites for in the first place.)
Keep up the grat work!
Jeremy, the screens shots look good. I agree with Phil Lucas, I am in awe of your use of browns, “grunge” but how clean the site is. Most blogging sites are becoming so cluttered with “junk” that you really have to “sift through” just to find the articles.
You have a keen eye for use of white space, and most of all for good design. Can’t wait to see the new site live. Excellent work keeping us updated.
